apodyterium (-a)

The changing room, or rooms of a bath.

 

caldarium

The main hot room, or rooms of a bath

 

destrictarium

A room where oil would be applied and perhaps massage might take place.

 

frigidarium

The main cold bathing room. It would contain one or more unheated pools, and could be located indoors or outdoors.

 

laconicum

A sweating chamber that provided hot, dry steam.

 

sudatorium

The sweating room that provided hot, humid air.

 

tepidarium

A room that acted like a heat lock between the hotter caldarium and colder frigidarium
