Arch Of Augustus

Claridge.(1998) pg.99
The date is uncertain but Claridge believes that it is most likely to have been dedicated at the same time as the Curia and Temple of Divius Julius in 29BC celebrating Augustus’ victories in Dalmatia, Egypt and at Actium, but it could be another of 19BC commemorating the return of the legionary standards and prisoners which had been taken by the Parthians during the war with Rome (50-20BC).
