Format: jpeg

NOTE: Drawn by Hannah Simonds, his neice. The house is at Timsbury, Wiltshire.

Recent advert "Parish's House in Timsbury, Somerset reflects another aspect of the time. It is the height of restraint, having been designed in the austere Greek Revival style by the Bath architect Thomas Baldwin in 1816. Captain John Parish, who fought with Nelson at the Battle of the Nile, rebuilt a house that had been owned by his wife. He did so using prize money from the capture of the Spanish treasure ship Pomona in the West Indies in 1806.

Regency style: Delicacy and refinement; bow-fronted terraces; ironwork and verandahs; interest in the exotic; thin glazing bars and stucco.

Property details: Parish's House, Timsbury, Somerset, is a Grade II listed house set in 22 acres. It has 10 bedrooms, a coach house and a lodge.
